This weeks guest post comes from Sum Doood, a regular reader of the VW Camper Van Blog and a member of the VW Camper Van Blog Facebook Group. In this article, Sum Doood tells of his lifelong dealings with VW Camper Vans:
In 1959 at the age of three somewhere in Gloucestershire I was introduced to my first VW, a Kombi in which the family took holidays in wildest Wales and highland Scotland. I remember sleeping over the engine and waking to dodge the overnight condensation dripping onto my ex-WD sleeping bag.
We progressed to a comparatively sophisticated Devon Caravette and in 1966 moved to Wales where, with our hip-displaced Labrador puppy, we lived for three very wet autumn months in an old, crudely converted and totally immobile Bedford bus, what some might call a non-starter home. Whether it’s for inspiration for your own VW Van or just for fun, looking at other photos of VW Camper Vans and Buses is sometimes addictive. It’s great going through the ’show us yours’ sections on the forums and seeing what other people have done with their vans.

After seeing a few retro, teardrop micro caravans at some recent shows, I though I would go on the hunt for some of the best caravans to compliment your Volkswagen Camper Van.
It seems that prices for these are almost as high as a decent VW Van! Much more than I thought you would have to pay. I was hoping to get one to tow behind my VW T25 but I think it will have to wait (especially as I am still waiting to get my interior re-upholstered).
Anyway, I have managed to find 5 places where you can buy your own Retro Micro Caravans. I have also included 20 more images of awesome micro-caravans which would look amazing behind any VW Camper Van:
