The feeling of freedom and the freespirited lifestyle associated with an ageing tin box that will take you and your family and friends to the coast for a few days of carefree abandon and fun is right up there on everyones wish list. So what does it take to go from daydreaming to reality?

I know I have mentioned this before, but as the weather starts to warm up I am really missing my van! I had planned to put the funds which we received from selling our T25 straight in to our next van project. However, I unfortunately had an attack of the ’sensibles’ as we needed to replace my struggling second car, a 1996 Toyota Starlet.

With the scrapage deal coming to an end we decided that we needed a reliable, comfortable car and that it made more sense (at the time) to buy a new car first and then replace the van later on. So we took our little Toyota down to be scrapped and in return, got a whopping £2000 off a brand new Mini! And I have to say, I am very impressed with the Mini, it’s small, fun and reliable. OK, I know it’s no Vintage VW but it does the job for getting to meetings and will take us where we need to go with no hassle (as boring as that sounds!). (more…)
