This weeks Readers Rides comes from Neal from York who shows us his Volkswagen T4 Camper Van:

I bought the van from www.C-M-C.org.uk in may 2007, after being a member on the t4forum for a while and finding out as much as I could about t4’s (I had previously owned a westfalia type 2 bay window van in the early 90’s so knew I wanted back into VW’s after a long time away from them.

I decided on an Ex AA as they have the 102bhp 2.5tdi engine and already have the window set up I wanted. and have the seat belt mounts in the back for the Multivan interior I wanted (eventually)

I asked Mike from CMC to insulate, line and carpet the interior ready for camping, although I had no bed, I used a single futon for a while, going to as many Shows and camping weekends with the vwt4forum crowd as possible, until May 2008 when I went to germany and bought a Multivan Generation rear seat bed and two front captains seats which made the weekends away a lot more comfortable to say the least!

The van was then “finished” for two months at least until august when I decided I needed a new colourscheme and decided on Black with house of kolor rainbow prism flake over the top.
This was done in Ayr Scotland by Alan at www.v-worx.co.uk. Alan also did the Tailgate conversion while it was in the paintshop (from double doors to tailgate)

Then in November 2008 I went to Germany again, this time to get a full leather Multivan Highline leather interior (rear seat/bed and two front captains seats).

The van then went down to Kent, to James at T4World to be retrimmed in Vinyl and Flat carpet to match the two shades of grey of the leather seats, have a 17″ flip down monitor fitted and a rear speaker shelf built and fitted to house 6×9’s and a PS2 console.

James has also made vinyl covered thermal covers for the rear windows and tailgate, combining Silver Screens and Curtains and looking like a panel van all at the same time.
