VW Shows: Vanfest 2009 - Malvern, Worcestershire

I have finally gotten around to looking through our photos of this years Vanfest event. Unfortunately, we had to go up in the car as our T25 was off the road at the time. We stayed in a Travel Inn in Gloucester so I can’t say we got the full effect and atmosphere of the event, but it was fun nevertheless.
The vans on display in the ‘Show and Shine’ competition were truly inspiring. I think my favourite had to be the incredibly low rat style red Split Screen. However, the ‘Pool Bay Hooker’ Bay Window was also very cool as was the immaculate Komet (I think) T25 with the hard side pop top and the cool 80’s stereo and badminton rackets inside.
As I said, it was a bit of quick stop off for us before getting back on the road so we only had about 5 hours at the event but I thought I would share some of the photos we took on the day.

Did you attend Vanfest 2009? If so, what did you think? Which was you favourite van in the Show and Shine?

I love the Poole Bay Hooker.
Thank you for all the photos.
We went to Vanfest 09, great day, took loads of photos but unfortunately my husband lost his camera in Tewkesbury a day or two later. All photos lost as we’d not taken laptop on holiday this time so no unloading of card, Sunday night.

Hello there
I went to my first ever camper van fest at Malvern Vanfest this year. It was completely fantastic with so many jaw-droppingly beautiful creatures (I mean the vans of course!). I’ve been wanting a campervan for some time now and have my heart set on a VW Trident high-top but am torn between the T25 and the T4. Does anyone out there have any opinion or good advice for me on the subject. Logic tells me the more modern the more reliable, but does this follow?
Hope someone can help!
Thank you thank you.
Rachel
(P.S. I may as well add while I’m on - I’m also a singer - any slots at any fests??!)
Thanks for your comments!
Paula - I love the pool bay hooker too - you should have seen the interior (not sure why I didn’t take any shots??), It was very cool!
Moira - What a nightmare! Let me know if you want a copy of all our photos? I would be happy to send them over to you.
Rachel - Glad you enjoyed Vanfest! My T25 Van is actually a Autosleeper Trident High Top. Let me know if you want any more information on them!

Rachel, I’d go for a T4! I had a couple of T25’s first was an aircooled, engine was a pretty solid aircooled but bodywork was like a rusty seive. Engine is now powering a ‘74 T2. 2nd had great body, twin sliders, big bumpers & square lamps - problem was the watercooled engine - got thru 3 before I sold it for scrap! If you are going T25, go aircooled, avoid watercooled like the plague!
Got a 99 T4 now, in 4 years has needed no more work than new exhaust, new starter motor, front brakes replacing, new set of tyres and a replaced front lamp. I also kinda enjoy the view of T25’s and older shrinking in my rearview on motorways
campers are the best
